About Dutch (photo) book designer Irma BOOM (b.1960, in Lochem)

Irma BOOM is a book designer, typographer, teacher and designer. She works in Amsterdam and specializes in the design of books. Thanks to the use of unusual materials, colors, formats she transforms books into a visual and tactile experience. Irma BOOM studied graphic design at the Academy of Arts and Industry in Enschede. In 1991 she started her own business and has since been active in both the cultural and commercial sectors, nationally and internationally. Since 1992 she has also been teaching at Yale University in the USA. She also lectures and organizes workshops. She has received several awards for her book design and layout. Her books have been shown in various exhibitions and museums and are an integral part of the collection of MoMA in New York.
