Background information
The photo book 'My Sylt. News from the archive of the island photographer' with works of the Sylt photographer Bleicke BLEICKEN represents a photographic journey into the past of Germany's most popular vacation island and contains unpublished treasures from his archive. The self-taught photographer - teacher, later mayor of Kampen, Sylt - has captured life on Sylt with his camera for decades like no other photographer. In the course of his artistic work, his fascination with nature increasingly came to the fore: the vast landscape, the dunes, the sea and the sky over Sylt were Bleicken's main motifs. Experimental close-ups with his Rolleiflex camera also gave him a new perspective on the island's flora and fauna.
