Background information
"Belgian photographer Katherine LONGLY met Blieke, Nicole, and their little dog 'Plume' on a December evening. She had been taking pictures of illuminated caravans on a campsite on the outskirts of Brussels when a man came out and asked her what she was doing there. She started to apologise, but to her surprise he asked her in for a drink. Katherine LONGLY and the couple became friends, and soon they were inviting her to parties while relating their fascinating life story. She even gave them disposable cameras to record themselves at moments when she was absent. While their story flirts with stereotypes that we all tend to have, this book is about social mobility, ageing, and true love.
Content
The photo volume 'Hernie & Plume' by Katherine LONGLY shows color pictures mostly from the inner side of the caravan.Although it's a result of 8 years photographing, Katherine LONGLY decided to make a thin volume, condensed to the most important pictures to illsutrate the social life of Blieke and Nicole. The wonderful by Rob van HOESEL designed book comes with a special dust jacket." (© The Eriskay Connection, 2021)
