About the American Magnum photographer, Christopher ANDERSON (b. 1970, in Kelowna, Canada)

"Emotion is really the only thing about pictures I find interesting. Beyond that it is just a trick." (© Christopher Anderson)

Christopher ANDERSON grew up in west Texas. He first gained recognition for his pictures in 1999 when he boarded a handmade, wooden boat with Haitian refugees trying to sail to America. The boat, named the 'Believe In God', sank in the Caribbean. In 2000 the images from that journey would receive the Robert Capa Gold Medal. In 2008, after the birth of his first child, he moved further away from journalistic magazine work to subjects more immediate to his personal experience. He's a member of Magnum Photos, based in New York, NY.
