Background information
"Guy TILLIM, one of South Africa's most exciting photo artists, explores the urban architecture of colonial and postcolonial society in Africa in his latest series of images. In doing so, he does not focus on the formalism of buildings or reduce them to symbols of domination, but looks at the effects of the multiple power shifts of the last 50 years on this architecture.
His photographs leave plenty of room for their own interpretations and cast a spell over the viewer with their special aesthetics." (© Prestel Verlag, 2008)
