[The photo book] "'Common Dreams' reflects China's transformation, its multi-layered society and the contrasts that exist side by side: modernity and tradition, urbanity and rurality, poverty and wealth, homeland, identity and uprootedness. While a large part of the Chinese population participates in China's economic success and has been living in the fast lane for years, the nearly 300 million Chinese migrant workers live marginalized lives in the outskirts of the large metropolises. Since 2012, photographer Kai LÖFFELBEIN has repeatedly visited the various provinces of China. The result is a multidimensional book that critically examines China's social and economic transformation, focusing on the lives of migrant workers - their working and living realities, their worries and dreams."
