Background information
"The out-of-print photo volume 'Andante' by Italian Magnum member Alex MAJOLI is the catalogue of an exhibition that goes from 1985 to 2018, in which he researches the human soul and the most obscure elements of society. The itinerary ends with 'teatro', exploring the theatricality that lies in everyday’s life, where the borders between reality and fiction become blurred. The subtle line between reality and theatre, documentary and art, human behaviour and acting is the exact friction that amazes and makes him go back on the streets and in the places where the human condition is put into question.Content
The special designed photo volume combines two thread-stitched books, mounted on the front and the back cover, added by a leporello and a small poster with detailed information about the images inside the books. The full-paged images (black-and-white in the 1st boo, colored in the 2nd book) aremade between 1985 and 2013 in Africa (Angola, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Republic of Congo, Tunisia), America (Brazil), Asia (Afghanistan, South Corea, India, Mongolia, West Bank), Europe (Albania, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Russia).
