Background information

"Small photobook publication 'Horses and Dogs' is a publication of the US-American Smithsonoan Gallery, which contains various volumes of American photographers like u.a. Robert ADAMS, Tina BARNEY, Lois CONNER, Lee FRIEDLANDER, Jan GROOVER, Birney IMES, Len JENSHEL, Annie LEIBOWITZ, David LEVINTHAL, Jay MAISEL, Mary Ellen MARK, Joel MEYEROWITZ, Andrea MODICA, Nicholas NIXON, Bruce WEBER, Neil WINOKUR and Thomas ROMA in the same format (published between 1990 and 1995).

This volume contains over thirty color photographs by William EGGLESTON; unfortunately, the photos in this volume are not given either year or title; presumably there are overlaps with more well-known, other volumes of William EGGLESTON.
The interview with William EGGLESTON, preceded by the pictures, as well as the summary and classification at the end of the book, authored by Richard B. WOODWARD, are interspersed.

Overall, 'Horses and Dogs' is a beautiful, to the wrongly forgotten softcover volume as a supplement to the Photo Book library." (© Richard G. SPORLEDER)
