"Laëtitia Donval takes photographs of what she is drawn to: immersing herself in the most unexpected aspects of daily life. Enthralled by a hidden, other reality, her work is armed with ambiguity to help break through the commonplace and expose a harsh and weakened reality. Landscapes, portraits, still lifes are all subjects for examination in her empirical science of the exhilarating and fragile moment.
The series, 'En surface', was produced during a stay as artist-in-residence in Nature Humaine, in the Centre region of France." (publisher's note)
